Drew Afternoon

Today is Friday and I left work at noonish to spend the afternoon with my grandson! I don't do that nearly enough. And he was such a good baby. We watered the flowers together and he loved it. Drew would take one little finger and his thumb and try to grabor pinch the stream of water. He was so fun to watch.

He can't help but be a techie baby. 11 months old here and trying to talk on the phone already. So cute!
This child loves Apple Cinnamon Cheerios!
And he had just woke up from his nap in this picture. He has started doing this whimper, pouty, roll-his-lip-out and cry thing . Again, I think this is so cute but I don't have to be around it for very long at a time. That is one of the advantages of being a Grandparent! Love it! Poor thing, just look at him.
And then he and his Uncle Brian mimicking each other. Brian loves this kid. So amazed at how he acts or reacts towards him. Makes me proud. He will be a good Daddy someday!Kristin called Tuesday afternoon. The guy that broke into their house was caught! Brandon got his Grandpa's gun back. Such good news. And she called me again yesterday to share some more good news with me. She was accepted into the ASU's Graduate program. So very proud of her!

Whole Milk

Another first today. Kayla gave Drew whole milk today. She said "he loves it!". And he is so close to walking. He was here at the house for a little while last night while Kayla and Chase went to eat in Branson. Drew actually took three steps from the table to me before he realized he wasn't hanging on. I went to Kayla's for just a few minutes for lunch today. She had bought some fall decorations that she wanted me to look at; some gourds, a table centerpiece and some new pillows. Looking like fall! I did tell her she was a little ahead of the season however.

Swapping

Well, today was the annual swap meet in Springfield, Missouri. This has become an annual ritual for my boys. They were really excited this morning and Richard actually referred to it as "being just like Christmas morning". They left at 8 am and returned home at about 4 pm. They endured temps in the upper 90's and the heat index was over 100. Doesn't sound like fun to me, but what do I know. Brian was specifically looking for tools, preferably Snap-On, for his job. I can say this; they acted like it was Christmas morning when they got home . . . . . .

So glad they had a good time!

Russellville Visit

This post is out of chronological order, but oh well. I got to go to Russellville to visit Kristin on August 7th, finally. I hadn't been done there is so long. When I got there Kristin was up at her school, Center Valley trying to get read for her school year to begin. Here are some pics of her room.

She is a wonderful teacher! She is so organized and prepared and loves her job. I have heard her say over the summer that she misses her kids and is ready to get back to school. So proud of her.
Another Saturday with Drew. Here, he and his Grandpa are sharing a graham cracker.
And here he is helping Grandpa do some surfin'.
Friday was Grandma Opal's 92nd birthday! Here she is holding some flowers from Uncle John and Aunt Lillian.
Kayla brought Drew out Friday night to visit with Grandma for her birthday. He has never been afraid of anyone but he was scared of her and would not let her hold him.
And here is Brian and he custom Oakley's. "'38 Chrysler edition". Drew didn't quite know what to think.

Wow, what a fun evening with Drew. He is so close to walking! And he finally likes his new walker toy. He was so wound up tonight and was going strong. Look at his mouth, haha! Every time he pushes his toy he keeps his mouth open as wide as he can open it and all of the time. He can't steer it so he just goes until he runs into a piece of furniture and then he start whining.
I fixed pizza for supper and he loved it! He ate scrambled sausage and hamburger and cheese. Also drank almost a whole cupful of juice, which is not like him at all. Kayla has been real hesitant to feed him table food. #1, she doesn't cook! And #2, she is so afraid of him getting choked. But he sure enjoyed his supper tonight.

Just Another Day

Well, I think Brian enjoyed his first day of official employment. I truly hope so. Little Drew is still sick. Ran a fever over night. Chase took him to the doctor this morning. He did a blood test. His white cell count is up and the doctor thought he might have a urinary tract infection. Took a specimen, it was negative. So they don't know what is wrong with him but put him on an antibiotic anyway. I left work at about 2:15 because Chase had to go to work at 3;00. As long as his fever is down he feels fine. Sure will be glad when this week is over. It hasn't been the best. Still thinking about Kristin and Brandon constantly. I talked to her this afternoon, she still doesn't have her presentation done.

Bad Stuff

Well, what a crappy start to the week. Kristin called me yesterday and their house got broken into. She was crying and was so upset. Things they know were taken: her computer, her camera, their Wii, a gun that Brandon's grandpa gave him, his deodorant and his cologne, and an old cell phone. How stupid! I feel so sorry for her. She has a presentation that she has to give on Monday and she needs her computer. Not to mention all of the pictures and other data that she has lost.

And yesterday was my sweet husband's birthday and I didn't even have a gift for him. Brian went to Harrison for me to get a new windshield for his bike. They didn't have them :( Brian also took Richard's truck to Ramsey's to get "the clicking" in the stirring column fixed and the truck quit working. They had to haul it home.

One good thing happened today. When Brian went to Ramsey's, not even looking for a job, he left there employed. He is the new auto tech at Ramsey Motor Company. Will be trained to be a diesel mechanic!

Kayla texted me this morning and Drew was running a low grade fever, 100.2. He slept good and was still eating good, we decided it was his teeth. Chase went in a little later so they didn't have to take him to the sitter's. Kayla wanted me to pick him up when I got off of work and take him to her house. He was so hot and lifeless when I got him. Got him home, checked his temperature and it was 101.8. Poor little guy! Immediately gave him some Tylenol. Took about an hour before his fever broke but Kayla said he came to like after I left.

And he clapped his little hands for the first time today! After weeks and weeks of trying to get him to do that! Yay! Go Drew!

Much Needed Update

Wow, can't believe I have neglected my blog for so long. So much has happened over the last four or five weeks. I will start with the most recent and try to recap and remember all.

I have been so "down" and feel so sorry for Brian. He and Hannah broke up last weekend. I just feel so sad.

Drew was 10 months old this past Friday, unbelievable. He has eight teeth now. Kayla gave him his first haircut on Wednesday of this past week on July 28. She sent me a text message at work and said it was a spur of the moment thing. I didn't even get to be there to take a picture. :(

Kristin and Brandon came in this weekend. Kristin and I kept Drew on Saturday while Kayla was at work. Here is a 10 mo old picture. He looks so big.
Kayla has started giving Drew fresh fruit. Saturday morning, it was strawberries. It is so funny to watch him chase them around on his tray with one little finger. And then try to eat them with front teeth only. This one must have been a little tart.
This picture was taken on Saturday, July 17. Grandpa was sharing his pop tart.
I found Kayla's little rocking chair that her Ninny and Papa gave her for her when she turned a year old. I used it this day to take some pictures of Drew. He is way to mobile now for me to try and take pictures by myself. The only reason he decided to smile in this picture is because he saw the puppy dog.

This is still the same Saturday. Great Grandma Billie, or Ninny, came to see Drew. This child loves books and he was so tired. Ninny rocked him to sleep shortly after this picture.Grandpa and I bought Drew a little swimming pool. This was the first time in the pool. This was on July 5th. And again only decided to smile when he saw the puppy dog.
Way to serious.
I didn't even post anything about the fourth. Here is the one and only picture I am going to post about the fourth.
And this is the first time for Drew to have Cheerios! He had fun with them. They stick to the inside of his hand and he doesn't know how to get them off. It is so funny to watch him. I hope not to wait so long between posts. Seems like once you stop it is so hard to get started back.
It is August 1st. It has been so hot and is now getting very dry. We are in need of a good rain. Until next time . . . . .
