Snow,Snow, Snow

What a wonderful day. We did get the snow that was predicted, about 12 inches although it is really hard to measure because of the drifts. Some of those are three and four feet deep! I went for a walk this morning, I wanted to get out and take pictures so bad. Kayla and Chase came over and brought a couple of friends with them. Richard and Brian took them sleding while I kept Drew. I made chocolate chip cookies for them and made snow ice cream for the first time ever! It was so good! Kayla hurt her knee which was not good. Hope it isn't too bad. Drew is four months old today. I can hardly believe that. And he reached for me! When they came in the house, Chase gave him to Richard and when I walked over by him, he actually reached out both arms towards me. And he rolled over! I had him lying on a pallet on the floor, I put him on his tummy and up on his elbows, and went to take a pan of cookies out of the oven. When I came back he was on his back! Wish I would have seen it. Here are some pictures from today . . .

Something About Nothing

Well January is almost over! Almost have all of my projects done and deadlines met. Just a couple of more to finish before we leave for some much needed R&R and some time together.

Well the buzz for the past few days is the big winter storm that is supposed to hit tonight. I gassed up the car on Tuesday, stocked up on groceries, Richard got gas for the generator, candles are gathered, water is drawn, laundry is done, just it time for it to start snowing. After last year, I don't want to be unprepared again. It was one year ago yesterday that the huge ice storm hit and Grandma Opal's house burned. We were without power for 13 days. Wow! That was horrible. The predictions for tonight and tomorrow and anywhere from 1/4" to 3/4" of ice and 6" to 8" inches of snow on top of that. Love the snow. I really want to get out and get some good pictures. Hope I have a chance to do that this weekend.

Busy Times

I have come to hate the month of January. I stay so busy at work. I leave my house when it is still dark and get home way after dark. So many deadlines to meet. This year I feel extra stressed trying to get things in order before we leave for vacation. And our personal tax appointment is February 2nd this year, a lot earlier than normal but we have to have everything ready to go before we leave. I finally got all of my quarterly reports and the W-2's done on Friday. That was a huge relief. I just have to stay focused and get everything else done within the next two and a half weeks!

But this week-end I spent Saturday with Drew. We had another photo shoot, poor guy. He will hate me for that one of these days but I had better take advantage of this time when he doesn't know any better. This was the weekend for Cupid photos. I ordered some cupid wings from e-bay and bought a little red teddy bear. I thought both were so cute. Here are few of the pictures. The wings didn't show up as much as I would have liked but oh well. . . . . .

He was absolutely adorable and was so good.

So I have spent all day today working on our personal tax stuff. I really hate that task. If I would just keep up with it every month it wouldn't be such a huge job. But that is the last thing I want to do at the end of any day after working 9 to 10 hours a day on a computer. As always, this year I vow to do better. I did; however, get to listen the the football playoff games today. I am so disappointed that my Vikings and Favre lost to the NO Saints. What a disappointment. The Super Bowl is in a couple of week. I will definetly rooting for the Colts and Manning.

Kayla told me yesterday that Drew continues to do so good about going to bed and going to sleep. She must be an awesome sleep trainer.

Brian seems to really be struggling with his classes. Just hasn't committed 100% to it yet. Hannah came over yesterday and helped him with his homework. They spent most of the day together!

I miss Kristin so. Sounded like her and Brandon had a good day yesterday. Rented and played the New Mario wii game and took Mason for a walk. I really need to make a trip to Russellville soon! It has been soooo long since I have been done there.

Until later.

More Grand News

Drew Chase - Friday evening, January 15, 2010, 15 weeks, 2 days.
I got to keep him for just a few hours while Kayla and Chase went to Branson. I just love this little guy! He is developing a personality and can be so much fun just to talk to.

Today has been a day of rest for me. We went to church this morning and then I have been lazy all afternoon. It has been a day of watching football payoffs and napping.

Sleep Training

Hummm, Kayla has started trying to put Drew down at night in his own bed and teach him to go to sleep on his own. Last night she said he cried for about 35 minutes. That just breaks my heart. I could do that when my children were babies, couldn't do it now for nothing. She sent me a message tonight and said ". . . night two of sleep training . . about 5 minutes of semi fussing and then silence." Wow, hope this lasts for her and him too.

Stuff

Brian started colleges classes at NAC today. I am so proud of him. He is taking Psychology, Algebra, and English Comp 101. Goes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8 am to 11 am. Hope he sticks with this. He wants to get a few classes under his belt and then transfer to a four year university to complete his degree in mechanical engineering. Whoo-hoo!

Drew went to see Dr. Causey today for a check up. He weighs 16lbs 4oz and is 26" long. Gowin' boy! Kayla fed him rice cereal for the first time tonight with a spoon. She said he did so good and he likes "big boy" food. Too cute!
Kristin is at Pettit Jean St. Park for today and tomorrow for more training. And then she is out of her classroom again on Thursday for literacy training. I miss the times we used to spend together.
Got an e-mail this morning on my blackberry at about 5:10 am, thank goodness it woke me up. We didn't have any power to half of the house and my alarm clock was off. One side of the breaker box was not working. Really weird! But at lease we had power in the bathroom and I was able to get ready for work and be there on time. Come to find out, a wire was broke at the transformer on the pole outside of the house. Called Entergy, fixed by mid morning.

Changing So Fast

Instead of beginning this blog at the first of the year, I really wanted to start when Drew was born but I just didn't know how to do this. I have tried and tried to get Kayla to blog; I know she is going to wish one day that she would have but I also know what a baby she doesn't have time. So even with my limited time I get to spend with Drew, I am going to try and post notable things and pictures of his first year.

This is the day he was born, only a few minutes old.

Drew at one month old, October 30, 2009.
It just happened to be Halloween.

Two months old on November 30, 2009.
Look at that belly.

And that brings us to 3 months old in this picture. January 1, 2010.

So so sweet. He is laughing and giggling and is changing so quickly.

Learning

Happy New Year! I seriously meant to get this site up and going on January 1, just couldn't figure out how to do it. I really hope to make regular posts here during this year. I think this will be an awesome way to journal and record this year's happenings . First of all, I can't believe this is already the 8th of Jan. Last Friday, New Years Day, I worked. Went in again on Saturday and just worked until noon. Kayla and Chase wanted to go to Springfield so I kept Drew that afternoon and evening. He was so much fun. I had him laughing and giggling so hard. Love that little guy. I started snowing late, about 10 pm. Church was canceled on Sunday morning so we just spent the day being lazy. I love those days. I have been so busy this week, worked late every night. Locals schools have canceled classes everyday this week. Richard had to take me to work twice this week, I was afraid to drive. We took Brian and Hannah to Fuddruckers tonight. It has been bitter cold. The high tomorrow is supposed to be -1! Wind chills have been well below 0. I hope to make this a lot more interesting; more pics, less words. I hope to look back at this in about 12 months and have some laughs. Gotta go for now. Need to get to bed as I have to work tomorrow as well. Just gotta get thru January.
